Running a half marathon teaches you a lot of things. One thing I learned this this year was not to dump water on your head when you’re running with your iPhone which your relying on to shoot video and photos.

I digress.

All told, the UPMC Health Plan Half Marathon was everything I hoped it would be, yet again, and the spirit of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon was a hell of a way to spend a Sunday. Many thanks to all of the volunteers, public safety personnel and spectators who came out to make the day so awesome.

Here are some photos from the course, throughout the day, from a runner’s perspective. More on the way (from an iPhone that DIDN’T get a Gatorade bath). There’s a smorgasbord of photos aggregated on this Tumblr.

Shoot some photos while you ran? Email them to use at riseandtide@gmail.com and we’ll post them in an online gallery.

And if you want to get a feel for what it’s like to walk toward a starting line with 25,000 of your closest friends, here’s a short video.
